Donors can resolve to give the gift of life this new year.(News)

IF YOU are short of New Year's resolutions, consider donating blood.

By doing so just once, you could possibly save three lives.

Currently the Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) has stocks of blood which are expected to last five days.

Yesterday Leandi le Roux, the service's spokeswoman, said though this was regarded as "above average", residents were still urged to donate blood.

She said more blood could be needed during the next few days as more accidents usually occurred during the New Year's period.

"You can save up to three lives with one donation," Le Roux said.
