QLD: MP s family sells out of Net company

BRISBANE, Aug 13 AAP - The family of controversial Queensland backbencher Bill D'Arcy has
sold its interests in a company that part-owned the state's first Internet gaming licence.

Mr D'Arcy's solicitor Terry O'Gorman issued a brief statement today saying the family no
longer had any interests in Navari, the company which owned a stake in Internet gaming company
Gocorp.

The move came as the government prepared to introduce legislation to strip the three Labor
figures at the centre of the Net Bet scandal from profiting from any interests in Gocorp.

The legislation would seek to prevent Navari Pty Ltd and Topki Holdings from any
involvement in the Internet betting business or the licence would be cancelled.

Mr O'Gorman would not reveal how much had been realised from the sale of the shares.

"As a result of an agreement reached this afternoon, D'Arcy family interests in Navari have
been sold," Mr O'Gorman said.

"Accordingly the D'Arcy family no longer have any financial or legal interest in Navari.

"The agreement is subject to a normal commercial confidentiality clause but, of course, the
details of the sale will be advised to the CJC (Criminal Justice Commission) if they so
request."

The Auditor-General and the CJC are investigating the circumstances surrounding Treasurer
David Hamill awarding the state's first Internet gaming licence to Gocorp.

The company, through two other shareholding companies, was partly owned by Mr D'Arcy,
former MP Don Livingstone, Ipswich City Councillor Paul Pisasale or their families.
