TARGETING small office-home office (SOHO) outfits and enterprises, Planet Technology Corp has made available a new range of network peripherals.

Among the products are 10/100-gigabit (GB) Ethernet switches, network devices, media converters, network peripheral servers, advanced routers, a wireless local area network (LAN) solution, broadband communications devices and an Internet telephony gateway.
The 10/100GB Ethernet switches are designed for users to knit together their heterogeneous enterprise network environments.

The models available are the Intelligent 1,000 megabits per second backbone switch, the Intelligent 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet stackable switch, the Intelligent 10/100Mbps switch with gigabit uplink, the 24- port Intelligent routing switch with gigabit uplink and the 24-port Intelligent 10/100Mbps switch.

Also available is the Unmanaged 10/100GB Ethernet switch line. This product family builds on enterprise networking solutions by delivering unmanaged connectivity. Among the models are the 10/100/ 1000Mbps Ethernet switches, the 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet smart switches and the 10/100Mbps auto-sensing switches.

For the SOHO environment, Planet has its SOHOConnect products aimed at relieving users from the worries of building and running a small business network. The SOHOConnect family includes a network starter kit with two 10/100LAN cards, a Fast Ethernet 100Base TX hub, two five-metre cables, and software drives.

Also in the product family are the palm-sized hubs and switches which includes entry level 10BaseT hubs, Fast Ethernet hubs and dual speed hubs.

And there are also the desktop hubs and switches designed with easy installation and compactness in mind. They come with a full range of port densities, media interface options and speed to suit the SOHO's network.

Also available is a range of media converters which are for companies that require advanced media conversion technology. They comprise a solution for updating, expanding and optimising network performance in mixed media switched environments.

The product line includes the media converter chassis which allows easier adding, upgrading and replacement of media converter modules, the Fast Ethernet media converter, Gigabit Ethernet media converter and a multimode to single mode fibre converter.

"It is important for companies to get their networks up and running effectively. With our line of network peripherals we provide not only a good solution for companies but also a relatively lower cost compared to other products in the market," said Planet Technology's manager for engineering department, Tom Shih.
